What Is It?
ITIL is a a cohesive set of best practices specifically for information technology service management. It is supported by a comprehensive qualification scheme and a range of implementation and assessment tools


Who Developed It?
ITIL was originaly developed by the CCTA, a department of the United Kingdom Government. This is now known as the OGC, the Office of Government Commerce.


How Widely Is It Used?
It is very widely used, being by far the most popular IT service management approach.
